Take me back to the forest!
Many suppliers will tell you, often in good faith, that their supplies are from ‘sustainable’ or ‘managed’ sources, or from plantations. But without credible certification there is often no way to know if products have been sourced responsibly.
FSC certification enables businesses and consumers to choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials from well-managed forests and/or recycled sources.
You can contact FSC ANZ for advice and guidance on FSC policies and standards, and about training, marketing and communications support, trademark protection and licensing and membership. Click on one of the links below or get in touch using the contact form.
If you are enquiring from outside of Australia or New Zealand please contact your nearest FSC office.
Forest Management group certification has been developed to help forest owners, and in particular owners of smaller woods, achieve FSC certification by reducing the auditing burden and costs.
Tracing materials back to the forest they came from is complex as supply chains can be difficult to follow, making it challenging to determine whether wood used for furniture has been responsibly sourced. As the world's most trusted sustainable forest management solution, FSC is able to assure businesses and consumers of the integrity of the supply chain, from forest to consumer.
FSC owns a portfolio of trademarks worldwide. These trademarks form part of the foundation on which the FSC system is built. Correct use of the trademarks is critical to ensuring brand integrity and credibility, and something we take very seriously. We're vigilant in protecting our valuable trademarks and take swift measures to deal with identified cases of violations. We enjoy a synergetic relationship with our stakeholders who are integral in helping unearth and resolve cases of infringements.
FSC has an array of resources to help you navigate the certification process. The links below provide an overview, and more comprehensive materials can be downloaded from the document centre. Please consider subscribing to our newsletter for the latest updates from across the FSC system.
The attached document catalogue and policy road map is a core document which is providing an overview of normative documents and a schedule for development, review and revision processes of the FSC normative documents and guidelines. An overview of the FSC normative documents applicable to the different types of certification (FM, CoC, CW) and scope (reclaimed or controlled materials) is also available to help certificate holders understand the requirements they have to comply with. There may be translated normative documents available through FSC Network Partner websites. Contact them here to learn more.
Small-scale and community forests are at the heart of FSC. The specific challenges that these groups face are not only linked to the requirements of FSC certification, but also to access markets that value sustainability. To rise to these challenges, we are continuously working on increasing our impact and making the FSC more attractive to these stakeholders.
FSC's rigorous standards for responsible forest management require forest managers to maintain the continued existence of naturally occurring native species and genotypes, and prevent losses of biological diversity, particularly through habitat management in the forest.
