The Promotional Licence Holders’ Forum, held on Tuesday 1 September, provided an opportunity to learn from one another and discover new ways to tell the story of responsible forest management, from supporting workers’ rights and protecting biodiversity to promoting more responsible supply chains.
The forum brought together representatives from 16 businesses for an afternoon of FSC updates, industry insights and opportunities to strengthen collaboration. A key focus was the revised Trademark Use Guidelines for Promotional Licence Holders, which came into effect on the day of the event. The program also covered updates to the Australian Forest Stewardship Standard and FSC Chain of Custody Standard, alongside opportunities to deepen partnerships through initiatives such as Verified Impact and the FSC Forest Week campaign. The forum also explored a recent consumer study, offering attendees a closer look at what matters to shoppers when it comes to sustainability.
Attendees also heard first-hand from two organisations putting responsible sourcing into practice in very different ways. Linda Reid, Head of Marketing and Communications at Winc Australia, shared the story behind bringing Australia’s only Australian-made FSC-certified copy paper to market. Her presentation showed how collaboration across the industry can turn a sustainability ambition into a tangible product, while demonstrating the potential for more responsible manufacturing in Australia.
For Jean-Pierre Masclef, Supply Chain Director at Lonely Planet, the focus was on embedding responsible sourcing across a global publishing operation. He shared how Lonely Planet worked towards 100% FSC-certified paper across all its publications, an approach that has delivered benefits not only for the environment, but also for the business and its supply chain.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Linda and Jean-Pierre for sharing their insights and experiences.
