A result of this recognition is that FSC certified forest operators can receive RSB certification, allowing them to access biofuel and bioenergy markets. The audit process has been simplified, making it cheaper and faster for FSC certified forests to also get RSB certification. This will increase the supply of sustainable forestry products to biofuel and bioenergy producers.

Kim Carstensen, Director General of FSC, indicated that this recognition: “demonstrates [FSC’s] leadership role in forest certification and responsible forest management. This is also an important signal of how like-minded, best-in-class organizations can collaborate across sectors and create additional value for their beneficiaries”.
