The Forest Stewardship Council (ANZ) has joined with other certification programmes in Australia to form the Trusted Labels Group (TLG) which launched at the Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA) event, Innovations in the Circular Economy in Sydney on 8 October.

The TLG is made up of Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Australian Organic Ltd, (AOL), Fair Trade Australia and New Zealand, Forest Stewardship Council Australia and New Zealand (FSC ANZ), GECA, and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).

The TLG comprise independently audited third party certification schemes in Australia & New Zealand and are coming together to identify common areas of interest, shared learnings, and promoting the benefits of independent third-party certification for empowering consumer choice.

The TLG aims to deepen our connections across the TLG membership and strengthen our collective stakeholder engagement. “Sustainability standards address many of the world’s biggest environmental and social challenges, and they have the capacity to create real impact.

Our challenge, given the growth of eco labelling, is to ensure that our stakeholders can make informed decisions about the value of a trusted label when purchasing responsibly sourced products.” said Damian Paull, CEO FSC ANZ.
