Woolworths is now using FSC certified packaging for their Woolworths Select UHT Milk range.

Look for the FSC label on Woolworths Select UHT Skim Milk, Full Cream Milk and Semi Skim Milk.

The packaging is supplied by Tetra Pak who now has the supply chain in place to offer beverage companies FSC certified and labelled packaging material for all their UHT packages within Oceania.

Tetra Pak’s goal is to have all the paper in their carton packages FSC certified. However, there are limited volumes of wood available to FSC-certified paperboard as only 15% of the world’s productive forests are currently FSC certified (WWF, 2013).

To shed more light on renewable materials and the role they can play in helping to protect the planet Tetra Pak has also recently launched a global marketing campaign http://www.packgrowsback.com/

The Pack that Grows Back campaign takes a playful approach to raising awareness and understanding of a topic that is often misunderstood by consumers. It highlights why renewable materials are such an important part of the environmental agenda and offers insight to the importance of responsible resource management.

Woolworths is committed to sustainable sourcing and aims to ensure that their own brand packaging does not contribute to unsustainable forest clearing. Although the issues are complex, the collaboration between Woolworths and Tetra Pak has shown that solutions to sustainable sourcing can be found, and by working together better results can be achieved.
